It’s that time of my life.
My kids can all walk on their own, the baby carrier has been given away, and the main thing on my Facebook feed is jeans that are said to “tuck away the mommy belly”.
How did it happen so fast? Just yesterday, I was nursing my now almost-nine-year-old, and was skinnier than I’ve ever been! Now our afternoons are spent with me picking three of the four kids up from school, and then walking them through the basics of how to keep their room clean (spoiler alert- this is NOT my forte, because I can’t keep my own room clean).
This is the time where sweats or pajama pants are preferred, but a nicer look is expected.
Contact lenses are bought, but hardly ever worn because my glasses are easier.
When the thought ‘I’ll wash my hair later’ means that you’ll get to it in about two days.
But for me, this is a time where I get to be comfortable in my own skin, and don’t care what others think about my looks. Sure, mom jeans look super comfortable and flattering, but in order to afford them I need to join a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants type group, so that we can all split the cost.
It’s ok to be in your mom jean era. And it’s ok to choose sweatpants.
It’s ok to buy the mom jeans and wear make up every day.
It’s ok to be you, and that is the best decision you can make for your family. Loving yourself means you are able to love your kids and your spouse better.
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
